BIOGRAPHY
Laura received a Bachelor of Business Administration in International Business with a minor in German from Texas Tech University in 2005. Laura’s love of travel had prompted her to study abroad while pursuing her bachelor’s degree. Laura studied in Paderno del Grappa, a village in the Veneto region of Italy. This was Laura’s third trip to Italy, having studied abroad in high school as a Rotary exchange student in Germany during her junior year, during which she travelled to more than a dozen European countries. Between pursuing her Bachelor and Juris Doctor, Laura lived abroad in Canada and New Zealand. In 2010, she returned to school, pursuing her Juris Doctor. She received her Juris Doctor from Regent University School of Law in 2013.
After law school, Laura clerked for the Superior Court of Alaska in Kotzebue, Alaska—a small town above the Arctic Circle. Thereafter, she worked as an associate attorney in a prominent family law firm in Winchester, Virginia, and then moved back to Virginia Beach.
Family law has been Laura’s primary practice area. She also serves as a Guardian ad litem for children, advocating for children’s best interests in family law and juvenile matters. Laura is a trained mediator. The Supreme Court of Virginia certified her as a mediator in 2017 and as a mediator mentor in 2023 to train new mediators.
Laura is a member of the Virginia State Bar, the Virginia Beach Bar Association, and the Virginia Bar Association. Her recognitions include Top 40 Under 40 by The National Trial Lawyers, Pro Bono Hero by the Virginia State Bar, Best Lawyers in America: Ones to Watch, Rising Star by Super Lawyers, and others!
Laura is on the board of directors for Virginia Beach Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), which is a non-profit organization that recruits, trains, and supports volunteers to advocate for children of abuse and neglect. She currently serves as CASA’s secretary.
Laura lives in Virginia Beach with her husband and two children. They enjoy outings to the beach, Busch Gardens, aquarium, and other places where they can explore.
