Emily Dunn

Attorney

Emily Dunn is of counsel with our firm. She is a family law attorney and passionate advocate for families and children. She understands that family law matters often involve significant emotional and financial challenges, and she strives to help clients navigate those transitions with clarity, compassion, and practical guidance. Emily approaches each case with the goal of resolving disputes efficiently while working to preserve continuing relationships whenever possible.

Emily earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, cum laude, from the University of Tulsa. After relocating to Virginia with her husband, she attended Regent University School of Law, where she earned her Juris Doctor. She was admitted to the Virginia State Bar in December 2013 and to The Florida Bar in April 2014.

Emily brings more than a decade of family-law experience to her representation of clients and is dedicated to helping families navigate life's most challenging transitions. As a military spouse, she understands the unique challenges military families face, such as deployments, relocations, and jurisdictional issues that can complicate family-law matters. She has served clients throughout Hampton Roads, with particular experience in Chesapeake and Virginia's Fifth Judicial District.

Emily represents clients in a wide range of family law matters, including divorce, custody and visitation, child support, spousal support, protective orders, and adoptions. Her adoption practice encompasses close-relative, stepparent, and foster-care adoptions. She also accepts court appointments as Guardian ad litem in Chesapeake and Suffolk, advocating for the best interests of children involved in litigation.

Clients appreciate Emily's practical, client-centered approach and her commitment to helping families find workable solutions during difficult times. Whether negotiating settlements or advocating in court, she works diligently to protect her clients' interests while keeping the well-being of children at the forefront.

Outside the office, Emily enjoys spending time with her husband and three children. She is an active volunteer with her Cub Scout pack and can often be found supporting scouting activities, coordinating family schedules, and moonlighting as a chauffeur (the best job of all) for her three children.
